Write 31 Days│Door│Day 11

Untitled design (1)

I had to think about this prompt for a bit, but this is what I think when I hear the word door.

The main thing that comes to mind is pathways in life. We are presented with many different pathways, or doors, in life that we can take, and we have to choose which “door” to take. Should we take the one on the left or the right?

One isn’t always the right one, and the other isn’t always wrong. It’s a choice. I think God presents us with many opportunities during our lifetime and we get to choose which door to step through.

Now there are times when it is clearly a choice between right and wrong. But there are also times where it is merely a choice. Often times those choices help shape who we are and what we will become, so it’s important to choose wisely.

Write 31 Days│How│Day 10

How

I have been a mother for over 4 years now. it is definitely a journey. I have had to grow in ways I never thought I would need to. It is both harder than I thought but at the same time everything I ever thought it would be.

while on my motherhood journey, I often find myself asking, how do I do this or that? How do I teach them about Jesus in a way they will understand? How do I shape them into the young men they need to grow up to be? How do I teach them right from wrong?

There is so much I don’t know, so much I don’t know how to teach them. I never thought I wouldn’t know how to teach my kids about certain things. I always thought that aspect of mothering would come easily, but it doesn’t. I am not a good teacher, it is not my gift. Really it’s just another opportunity for growth.

Motherhood has a way of showing me my weaknesses and where I need to grow.

Write 31 Days│Inspire│Day 9

Inspire

Inspire…

I love to write. I have always loved it. but while I love writing, it is really hard for me. I have to feel inspiration before I can write anything. Or I THINK I need to be inspired to write.

Having this mindset for so long, it makes it really hard for me to write. this applies to when I write for fun and writing my essays for school (I am taking online college classes). I have been trying to stretch my brain, so to speak, so that I sit down and write when I need to, even when I don’t feel inspired. Especially when it comes to my homework, when I wait till I feel a certain way to sit down and write my essays, I will get behind really fast. (I had a paper due a few days ago and I have been seriously procrastinating).

I guess my point is I have learned that I can’t just sit around and wait, I need to DO, or I won’t get anywhere. I would eventually like to write a book, but If I don’t develop good writing habits that either won’t happen at all, or it will take a very long time.

Write 31 Days│Comfort│Day 8

Comfort

Comfort

This word rings true to me today. The cold weather has finally set in for the fall and it makes me so thankful to have a cozy warm home. Currently I am curled up in a blanket by the couch and wearing my slippers. Sipping my hot cup of coffee. I do love this time of year.

Watching the rain fall outside my window makes me very thankful to have our tiny apartment. The warmth, the coziness.

Sometimes when I get wrapped up in the day to day, and get stressed out and overwhelmed, I have to stop myself and think of the things I have to be thankful for. What God has provided for us. That he always takes care of us.

Stop…

Write 31 Days│ Hope │ Day 7

Surf School

Hope.
I think in our society today, Hope has a few different meanings. People have hopes and dreams for how they want their future to be. They hope they will be able to buy that car they have been pining over, or that house they have been looking at. Hoping that the person you have been crushing on will ask you out.

I have hopes and dreams for my future, but I also have Hope in the Lord, and to me, it means something different.

I have hope when things get dark when I have gone through hard times; financial difficulties, homelessness, or feeling the heartbreaking loss of a loved one, I have never lost hope. When I say hope I don’t mean that I was hoping God would bring my loved ones back to life, or that he would put a few grand in my bank account, but I had hope that he was in control, and that he would work it out, however, that would be.

To have hope in the Lord is to be confident in Gods faithfulness. He won’t leave us high and dry. He has a plan. He has it taken care of.

Stop..

Isaiah 40:31
but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Write 31 Days │Belong

Belong

We want to feel like we belong, but life can be isolating sometimes. After I got married we moved far away from my family and friends. We didn’t live there for very long, but time short time we did live there I didn’t make many friends. I felt very alone.

After my son Garris was diagnosed with autism I started feeling that feeling all over again. I didn’t know any moms who had children with autism. I didn’t have anyone to turn to for advice or encouragement who understood the struggle. I wanted to belong, but didn’t feel like I belonged anywhere,

However, I did realize something I was doing wrong. I was in a sense waiting for someone to approach me. I wasn’t willing to put myself out there. I was waiting for others to come to be and pursue a friendship, instead of going out and trying to make friends, to belong.

When I would try a new church, every Sunday I went I wouldn’t make an effort to get plugged in, I just waited in hopes that someone would notice the new person and approach. Well, this is not the best way to about it. Sometimes if we want to belong we have make an effort to get to know people.

Stop…

Write 31 Days│Five Minute Friday│Share

Share

In the Christian community, you often heard people sharing their testimony. You hear stories of people who were in very dark places come to Jesus and have their lives completely turned around and begin to leave for Jesus. They were redeemed.

Whenever I hear someone’s testimony I always think how amazing Jesus is and how he can change people so much. I also admire those who have the courage to share their testimonies.

It has always been hard for me to share my testimony. I am always afraid of being judged by the people I’m closest too, or of people disassociating with me. However, these feelings are not from the spirit.

I don’t need to be afraid of sharing what God has done in my life. If he has forgiven me for my past, does it really matter what others think? No, it doesn’t because God has forgiven me and washed me clean and I need to walk in that new identity. ANd who knows, my testimony may just help someone else going through the same struggles.

Write 31 Days │Why

WHy

Go…

When my kids ask for something, and I say no, the question immediately followed is why. Why can’t I have candy? Or why can’t I watch TV right? My answer is always because I said so. I always have a reason, but I want them to accept my answer, and to listen. I say no because I know what is best. Sometimes I say no to something because they need to learn a lesson. Candy is not what is best right before dinner, and TV right before bedtime is not a good idea for my kiddos because it doesn’t help their brain to settle down.

I know what is best for my kids because I am their mom, they don’t always understand that though.

I sometimes wonder if that is how God feels when we always ask him why. Why God?

I imagine him, looking down on us saying, Trust me! I know what is best for you!

Our family car broke down a few months ago, and we haven’t been able to get a new one yet. I asked God why he would allow that to happen when he knows that we need the car. Now I know cars break down and it isn’t because God willed your car to break. (5 minutes ended here, but I am going to finish my thought). I do think that God wanted me to learn a lesson through this. I tend to let finances and budgeting stress me out to the point where I don’t budget our money well, because its easier to give up when I feel stressed. Had I been properly budgeting our money, I would have had money set aside to either fix our car or get a new one.

Just as I need my kids to learn things that hard way at times, God lets me learn things the hard way to.

Lessons are hard to learn sometimes, but I can consider this one learned!

Stop…

Day 3: Believe

Today is day 3 of 31 Days Of Five Minute Free Writes! (I am a few days behind)

Today’s post isn’t very long. Honestly, this prompt was hard to write on, I am not really sure why. Words were just not coming to me.

Today’s prompt is believe.

Start..

Believe

Believe

To believe is to trust. To have confidence in the truth, existence, and reliability of something (God). To have Faith.

TO believe in God is to believe in something you can’t see, but we can feel him. We can feel his presence, and see evidence of his glory.

Leif can be hard, especially when things aren’t going the way we would like. A lot of times we don’t understand why God is allowing certain things to happen, but we still need to believe he will take care of it. He’s got it! It will be ok. He has it under control.

I am learning to believe and to trust. It is an area where I really need growth. Its hard to trust when you don’t know the outcome of certain circumstances. But Gods got it!

Stop…

Day 2: Afraid

Hey all! Today we have another 31 days of five minute free writes post! today’s prompt is Afraid.

Add heading (1)

Ready, Go!

There are many things I am afraid of. Since becoming a mother, whenever I drive with my babies int he car, In the back of my mind I am always afraid of getting in a car accident.

I am afraid of spiders, like legitimately afraid of spiders!

I am also afraid of change. I don’t like change, especially if it is out of my control. Change is so hard for me, but more so for my autistic son. I am always afraid of how change will affect my family, and how my son will react to the change.

However, I can’t allow just being afraid of something to hold me back. I can’t stay inside for the rest of my life just because I am afraid of spiders! I also can’t stop my life from changing!

A truth I have to remind myself of is that God doesn’t want me to be fearful and afraid. He doesn’t want me to let them cripple me. I need to move forward, work through the fear, and when it gets hard pray for strength.

Stop…

Thank you for joining me today! Tuen in tomorrow for the next five minute free write!
