Write 31 Days│Ask│ Day 14

Ask

As a mother, its hard for me to ask for help. I think it comes for a place of pride really. I think that as a stay at home mom, I should be able to handle everything on my own. I should have the energy to wake up, make myself look decent, keep a clean home and make every meal from scratch. You know, the “perfect wife” that is always portrayed to us in the media.

This “perfect wife” image is not reality! It took me so long to figure this out, and certain days I still have to remind myself of that! I have to ask for help when I get overwhelmed! This “perfect housewife image” forgets to take into account things like tantrums or when little hands mess everything up that you just cleaned. Or when they dump the clean basket of folded laundry all over the floor.

I had a mentality that I had to do it all, and that my husband should just know when I need help and what needs to be done. This is not real life, at least for me! I can’t do it on my own. I HAVE To ask for help.
