Today is not only day 12 of 31 Days of Five Minute Free Writes, but its also Five Minute Friday!
Every Friday I link up with other bloggers from Fiveminutefriday.com and free write on a one word prompt for five minutes flat! Today’s prompt is praise.
Setting the timer… GO.
Often times when I have been stressing over something, like whether we will have enough money for rent during the winter (the offseason for my husband’s job) and we end up having enough to pay rent on time, I will give the lord praise. Praise because I am thankful we had the finances to take care of our bills.
But do I praise him when things are hard? DO I praise him through the hardship?
most of the time the answer is no. God has been doing a lot of work on my heart the last few years. My little family has had our fair share of hardships. In the beginning, it felt like God didn’t care about my family and was just letting us drown. I got angry and resented him for it instead of looking at it from a different viewpoint.
God allows us to go through hardships in life. We can either praise him through it, knowing he is in control, he has a plan, and we will persevere, or we can blame him and ignore him, and really, learn nothing.
I eventually got to a point where I had to learn to trust God through the hardship and give him praise. I am still learning to trust him, but I will say praising him through the storm, makes the storm more bearable.
Why, my soul, are you downcast? Why so disturbed within me? Put your hope in God, for I will yet praise Him, my Savior and my God.
